Mark Heidebrecht is the owner of ErgoMethods and is a managing partner of Ergonomics International. He graduated with honors from the University of Kansas for his research and thesis, The Kinetic Analysis of Lifting and Lowering Utilizing Chaffin’s Biomechanical Model. He has provided forensic and expert witness services in the areas of biomechanics, human factors, ergonomics and work physiology. He has testified in over 80 State Court and United States Federal Court cases as an expert witness and presented testimony at the Federal OSHA hearing regarding the National Ergonomic Standard.
Mr. Heidebrecht is certified by the Board of Certified Professional Ergonomists as a Certified Human Factors Professional and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Board Certified Exercise Physiologist. He has over 30 years of experience working in the fields of ergonomics, biomechanics, human factors and work physiology and has been a trained WorkHab FCE provider since 1997. Mr. Heidebrecht has developed numerous ergonomic analysis software and motion analysis equipment. He currently holds a U.S. patent for his epidemiology-based ergonomic risk and physical demand analysis software programs and has an additional patent-pending. He developed, and has instructed, a preparatory course since 1998 for professionals pursuing certification by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE).
In 2000, Mr. Heidebrecht presented to the National Academy of Science in Washington D.C. regarding the effectiveness of ergonomic interventions and the early identification of musculoskeletal disorders and is listed as a contributor to the National Academy of Science publication, Musculoskeletal Disorders and the Workplace. Mr. Heidebrecht was a member of the SAE International Aerospace Standards AS 6228A Committee, Safety Requirements for Procurement, Maintenance, and Use of Hand-Held Powered Tools. He is currently a member of the SAE EG-1B1 Power Tools - Productivity, Ergonomics and Safety Committee. Mr. Heidebrecht has presented throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. His expertise includes the development and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, the implementation of ergonomic risk reduction processes, biomechanic and human factors analysis, physical demand analysis, job matching, work physiology and job-specific functional testing.
Mr. Heidebrecht has developed and implemented ergonomic programs and processes across North America. He developed and implemented the Ergonomic Risk Reduction Process for the Customer Service Division of the United States Postal Service. His client base includes industries such as foundries, metal fabrication, mail and parcel processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution, apparel manufacturing, automotive, marine and aerospace, card and paper manufacturing and printing, healthcare, federal and state government, and has extensive experience working in the food and meat processing industry.
In his spare time, Mark loves spending time with his wife and five adult kids. He is an avid snow skier, Jayhawk, Royals and Chiefs fan, and enjoys riding his mountain bike on autumn days. He enjoys listening to music while relaxing at Table Rock Lake.
